Wonders of Nature,
Part 1
:

Drops, Pods and Moss

December 2009

Grants Pass, Oregon

The natural surroundings in Grants Pass provide a wealth of possibilities for creative photography. This is the first of two pages featuring items found in nature.

Drops and Pods

While out with Margarita one day, I found a cottonwood leaf covered with perfectly formed raindrops. Here are a few shots:

Another day we noticed a magnolia tree in a neighbor's yard. Seed pods were lying all around. One appeared to "float" above the sidewalk!

They were vibrant orange and yellow in color:

Others were green. But the seeds are bright red!

Moss and More Moss

(Please Note: My apologies for the fuzziness of some of these photos. My camera is having focus problems.)

Speaking of green, moss grows everywhere here. In the cracks of the pavement...

On sidewalks....

and curbs...

On rocks...

and sticks...

On fences...

and mailboxes...

Even on bridges and trees!

Up close and personal:

A moss collage!

"Merry Mossmess!"
