2012-2014

I finally downloaded the photos from my phone, and wanted to share some of them with you!

Murmuration

One evening in the summer of 2012, a "murmuration" of starlings swooped in over a local parking lot, looking to settle into the nearby trees for the night. There must have been a thousand of them! The flock flowed like water through the sky, breaking apart into groups and then merging back together again -- it was beautiful to behold. I caught a few shots:

Clouds and Rainbows

During the summer, great cloud formations blow into Grants Pass from the ocean. We are about 60 miles inland from the Pacific Coast, on the eastern side of the Coast mountain range.

This giant thunderhead was captured in July 2012. It was so large, I couldn't fit it into a single frame:

Traffic Stop

This photo is from the summer of 2013.

I was driving along Redwood Highway, when traffic abruptly came to a halt: a family of Canada Geese was trying to cross the road!

Mom was in front, Dad in the rear, and the goslings in the middle. They were on their way to the river.

A road worker had stopped the cars; they had already crossed the lanes in the opposite direction. It reminded me of the classic children's story Make Way for Ducklings!
