Last summer this tiny Pacific Tree Frog appeared in our yard. It was about an inch long.

Snails and Slugs
Since moving to our new house in October 2010, we have had some interesting visitors:

A cool fact about snails and slugs: they can pull their eyes in and out of their heads!

Garter Snake
One day Sheba found this garter snake in the driveway. She was gently sniffing his head! When I began taking pictures, he slithered away...

...but not before I got a picture of his bright red tongue!
Redwood Wetland Habitat
The elementary school near our house has a wetland area with a community walking path. The wetland has 2 ponds, birdhouses, a pole nesting site, benches, a bridge and a viewing platform with interpretive signs. Margarita and I visit it often.

What a wonderful way for children to learn about the natural world!
